Frequently Asked Questions
Does my data ever leave my computer?
No. All document processing, PII detection, and redaction happens entirely on your local machine. The only network call the app makes is a periodic license check-in (no document content is transmitted).
What types of PII does it detect?
Person names, Social Security numbers, physical addresses, case numbers, loan/account numbers, phone numbers, and email addresses. Detection uses a local NLP model (spaCy) plus custom regex patterns tuned for legal documents.
Can I use this to safely upload documents to ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Export an anonymized copy where all PII is replaced with tokens (Person 1, Address 1, etc.). Upload that to any AI tool. The entity map stays on your machine so you can decode the AI's response back to real names.
What happens if my subscription expires?
You get a 14-day grace period where the app continues to work normally (with a reminder). After that, the app enters read-only mode. Renewing restores full access immediately.
How many devices can I use?
Each license includes 2 device activations. You can deactivate a device at any time from the app settings to free up a slot.
